We Need Every Tool to End HIV

FDA Approves First Combination Pill to Treat Hepatitis

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Harvoni (ledipasvir and sofosbuvir) to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 infection.
Harvoni is the first combination pill approved to treat chronic HCV genotype 1 infection. It is also the first approved regimen that does not require administration with interferon or ribavirin, two FDA-approved drugs also used to treat HCV infection.

USCA Black Treatment Advocates Network Preconference Takes Place in San Diego

On Oct. 1 the Black AIDS Institute held its Black Treatment Advocates Network (BTAN) preconference to the 2014 United States Conference on AIDS (USCA) in San Diego. Conducted by the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC), the USCA, which is in its 18th year, took place Oct. 2-5.

A recent study found that MSM and transgender women who took four or more doses of PrEP per week were able to prevent HIV acquisition. The Obama administration tells us that those of us who will use healthcare.gov when open enrollment begins next month should expect a faster website with a shorter application form and features making it easier to use on mobile devices.
