It's Hunting Season on Black Men and Everyone Seems to Have a Permit

I've spent the last five months on sabbatical, and now I'm back. I'm very grateful to the California Wellness Foundation for supporting the work of the Black AIDS Institute and allowing me to take the time off. I knew the only way I could take off was to really get away. So I decided to go Southeast Asia—literally as far away as possible. It was an amazing trip. But I don't want to talk about my trip today. Online Trainings Strengthen HIV Prevention, Testing, and Treatment Effort

Finding the time and resources to take advantage of in-person trainings can be challenging (if not impossible) for staff at many organizations. "I am continually seeking new and innovative ways to provide valuable information on social media and digital strategizing to our volunteer Board of Directors, many of whom have had little or no experience in this area," said Robert Carroll, the Board President for the Association for Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC). Trainings delivered online can make it more convenient and cost-effective for people in the HIV community to access vital opportunities to strengthen HIV prevention, testing and treatment efforts.

New Resources Available to Help Consumers Navigate the Health Insurance Marketplace

Editor's Note: Among the Navigator grant recipients are HIV/AIDS service organizations including AIDS Alabama and Utah AIDS Foundation.

HHS awards $67 million to Navigators and recognizes more than 100 organizations as Champions for Coverage

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced $67 million in grant awards to 105 Navigator grant applicants in Federally-facilitated and State Partnership Marketplaces. These Navigator grantees and their staff will serve as an in-person resource for Americans who want additional assistance in shopping for and enrolling in plans in the Health Insurance Marketplace beginning this fall. Also today, HHS recognized more than 100 national organizations and businesses who have volunteered to help Americans learn about the health care coverage available in the Marketplace.
