Daily Breakfast Update Workshops to Take Place at AIDS 2016

Breakfast updates
To maximize participation in the International AIDS Conference and the successful sharing of information with the U.S. Black community both during the conference and once participants return home, beginning on Tuesday, July 17, the Black AIDS Institute will conduct daily breakfast updates for its delegates and other Black Americans attending the conference. Ninety minutes in length, each update will review information from sessions presented the previous day and provide an overview of the selected sessions for the current day. Conference speakers and researchers will be included in the briefings to share information and answer questions.
The workshops are designed to increase community participation in AIDS 2016 basic science, clinical science, epidemiology and prevention science sessions; provide support to CBO/NGO workers during the conference; increase the productivity of community activists at the conference; and strengthen delegates' capacity to present scientific information. The topics are:
Tuesday. Why are we here?: State of HIV in the Black Diaspora
Wednesday. Getting to Zero: Emerging Biomedical Treatment and Prevention Tools
Thursday. Opportunities for Faith-Based Response in the Global Pandemic
Friday. Understanding the Needs of Key Populations in HIV Prevention and Treatment
The breakfast updates are free, open to the public and take place at the Olwandle Suite Hotel, 110 Stalwart Simelane Street, Durban, 4001 from 7 to 8:30. Gilead, The Ford Foundation's Institute of International Education, Merck and UNAIDS are the funders.
