This week we run the final installment in our series of profiles about the 2015 Heroes in the Struggle Award winners—that of Empire star and longtime HIV/AIDS activist Jussie Smollett.

Our friends at the National Library of Medicine report on new research showing that nearly 400 HIV-positive potential organ donors in the United States could donate organs each year to HIV-positive people waiting for transplants, as well as a recent study that discovered that suicides among Black children ages five to 11 have increased in recent years, while significantly fewer White children are killing themselves.

HHS and the Treasury have issued new guidelines for what preventive services transgender people are allowed under the Affordable Care Act. AIDS.gov reports.

Finally, Medicaid expansion is still causing huge fights in state legislatures in states as diverse as Alaska, Florida and Montana.
