Thursday, September 18th, was National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day. So this week we lead off with an essay by Black AIDS Institute board chair emeritus Jesse Milan on the challenges of aging with HIV/AIDS.

Earlier this year our friend Greg Millett left the federal government to become vice president and director of public policy at amfAR. We talk to him about that transition and what he can accomplish with amfAR that he couldn't for the feds.

New research conducted at six U.S. HIV/AIDS clinics found that increasing contact with health care providers helped PLWHA improve the consistency with which they made clinic visits over current standard-of-care practices.

As we prepare for this fall's open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell recently announced $60 million in new grant awards to help 90 organizations around the country to train health insurance navigators.

Finally, we invite you to join us on Wednesday, October 1st—the day before United States Conference on AIDS (USCA)—when The Black AIDS Institute will convene an all-day National Black Treatment Advocates Network (BTAN) meeting.

Yours in the struggle,

Phill
