One of the key take-aways from AIDS 2014 was that if we are ever to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic, we need to focus on the populations most affected by the virus. We run Part 2 of our three-part series, HIV Does Discriminate, turning our attention to one of the most affected populations: sex workers.
We run a story from Kaiser Health News about the stigma that some who take PrEP experience for taking responsibility for protecting themselves from HIV. Also, nationwide the number of Americans with health insurance has decreased by 5 percent since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. A clear difference exists between the states that have expanded Medicaid and those that have elected not to. The ACA is also having a positive impact on LGBT communities. As we near the onset of the second enrollment period, the new Out2Enroll campaign issues a new report on the effort to enroll LGBT people.
Finally, on the heels of the tragic killing of Michael Brown, we run another installment from Colorlines' series "Life Cycles of Inequity," which explores how inequity impacts Black men.
