Join Our Train-the Trainer Webinar Series and Become Brown-Bag-Lunch Leader

The Black AIDS Institute invites you to engage in the Train-the-Trainer webinars and the Brown Bag Lunch series. The Train-the-Trainer Webinars are a seven-segment series that aims to improve HIV care and treatment through training, networking, and mobilization. Participants, who will be called “Brown Bag Lunch Leaders,” will attend four trainings and implement four educational and/or advocacy events locally.

In partnership with the HIV Prevention Trials Network, this train-the-trainer program will teach participants about biomedical information, HIV-related policy, and HIV research. Leaders will work with world-renowned researchers to increase their knowledge. Throughout the planning, implementation, and evaluation of their event, participants will be supported with technical assistance.

What Do Brown Bag Lunch Leaders Have to Do?

  • Attend four monthly Train-the-Trainer Webinars between April 2013 and January 2014.
  • Organize four follow-up events for each webinar you attend. These events will be called Brown Bag Lunches. In these trainings, you will use the Powerpoint presentation from the Train-the-Trainer Webinars to teach a local population of your choice.
  • Select a target population that you will teach during your Brown Bag Lunches. You will engage this population in all four Brown Bag Lunch events that you plan.
  • Complete preparation and follow-up work for all webinars and Brown Bag Lunch events.

How Much Time Will it Take to be a Brown Bag Lunch Leader?

  • Monthly webinar trainings are about 60 minutes. The Brown Bag Lunch Event should be between 1 to 2 hours. For each webinar, you should expect to do about 8 hours of preparation and follow-up work outside of the webinar and Brown Bag Lunch. Therefore, Leaders should expect to spend 10 hours per webinar and Brown Bag Lunch.
  • Since the Leaders will implement four Brown Bag Lunch events, they can expect to spend about 40 hours over the course of the year.

What Are the Benefits of Being a Brown Bag Lunch Leader?
