We are excitedly counting down the 13 remaining days until the opening of the Health Insurance Marketplace on October 1. People living with HIV/AIDS will finally be able to purchase health insurance without being refused for having a pre-existing condition or encountering lifetime caps on how much health care an insurance plan will offer. We can't wait! In this issue we report on the Affordable Care Act Boot Camp that the Black AIDS Institute held this summer with AIDS United and the Latino Commission on AIDS to inform ASOs and CBOs about the process for enrolling the uninsured in health insurance plans. We're also running an FAQ on the individual mandate from our friends at Kaiser Health News.

We tell you about a recent intervention among 300 African American men who have sex with both men and women that lowered the men's risk behavior in their sexual relationships with women. And AIDS.gov announces the release of the report by the President's Working Group on the Intersection of HIV/AIDS, Violence against Women and Girls, and Gender-Related Health Disparities, which investigated the overlapping effects of HIV/AIDS and the alarming rate of violence perpetrated against women and girls.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce that the Black AIDS Institute has been selected as a featured charity partner on CharitySub.org, which is raising money from their community of online donors in September to further our work. We are asking you to make a contribution as well and to spread the word to your friends on Facebook, Twitter and by way of other social media.

Yours in the struggle,

Phill
