Apply to Attend the Microbicides Trials Network with the Black Treatment Advocates Network!

In a continued effort to improve access to information regarding advances in prevention and treatment, the Black AIDS Institute will be taking a delegation of 2-4 BTAN members to this year’s Microbicide Trials Network annual meeting being held February 19th – February 23rd in Maryland.

The Microbicide Trials Network is a U.S. National Institutes of Health-funded worldwide collaborative clinical trials network focused on preventing the sexual transmission of HIV. The three day meeting will focus on updates on ongoing and completed MTN studies; scientific updates including contraception and HIV, PrEP and bone mineral density, and HIV resistance; as well as opportunities for discussions between representatives of MTN protocol teams, working groups, partners and the NIH. While there, local advocates will have the opportunity to engage with international investigators and community and industry partners and represent a host of HIV advocates who are devoted to reducing the sexual transmission of HIV in the Black communities.

As part of their trip, these treatment advocates will be required to return to their communities and conduct at least one event to educate other local advocates and consumers about the advances in biomedical treatment and participate in other scheduled activities to ensure information from the meeting is disseminated into local Black communities.

We are asking for interested treatment advocates associated with a local Black Treatment Advocates Network (Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Atlanta, GA; Jackson, MS; Philadelphia, PA; Houston, TX) or treatment advocates associated with the National Black Treatment Advocates Network to email This email address is being protected from spambots.
