This week we conclude our Versus the Virus series, a four-part sequence of stories examining efforts to eradicate HIV/AIDS among Black gay and bisexual men in New York City. Writer Adrian Fussell looks at the impact of budget cuts on outreach and support services for young MSM, asking how the epidemic can be contained if the funding is no longer there.
AIDS.gov has launched a new section of their website intended to provide information and resources to help people fight HIV/AIDS discrimination. They also celebrate an important milestone in the growth of their Twitter followers, surpassing 100,000 followers since their first tweet at the International AIDS Conference in 2008. Black people use Twitter and other social media disproportionately.
We reprint an article from Kaiser Health News about trends in health care costs, as well as one on the role of the school nurse, which will expand under the Affordable Care Act, a good sign for our children.
Yours in the struggle,
