"Brown Bag" Events Shed Light on Fourth-Generation HIV Testing

Advances in HIV testing took center stage as The Black AIDS Institute kicked off its 2014 Brown Bag Lunches, a train-the-trainer series that brings biomedical information, HIV-related policy and HIV research to communities across the country.

Libraries Serve As Health Insurance Info Hubs

 

What can't librarians do? Many are now becoming health insurance guides.

The buzz at the American Library Association's winter meeting recently wasn't just about the annual awards (a.k.a. the book award "super bowl"); the Affordable Care Act was also on the agenda. Libraries across the country have been trying to meet a growing demand for health insurance information.

Medicaid Waivers' Role in Innovation, Coverage Expansion

 

When the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012 ruled that states could decide for themselves if they would expand Medicaid eligibility, many thought states were left with a yes or no proposition. Simple.

On National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), Feb. 7, The Black AIDS Institute partnered with the HIV Prevention Trials Network and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Region IV to help Black Treatment Advocates Networks (BTAN) bring pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) education to Black communities throughout the country.
