Is trauma-informed care linked to HIV retention? Community health organizations believe it is. A workshop at the 2015 United States Conference on AIDS in Washington, D.C., spotlighted several organizations that integrate mental-health treatment for victims of violence into their HIV care. As a result, the women are more inclined to adhere to HIV treatment and maintain ongoing relationships with health-care providers.

The National HIV/AIDS Strategy: Updated to 2020 was in the spotlight during a plenary session of the 2015 U.S. Conference on AIDS in Washington, DC. The annual conference, sponsored by the National Minority AIDS Council, has assembled nearly 3,000 participants from across the country in Washington, DC.

Yesterday, dozens of #TransLivesMatter activists took over the stage at the U.S. Conference on AIDS in Washington, DC, to draw attention to HIV-positive trans women and men as well as gender nonconforming people.

Yesterday we heard an amazing keynote speech by public-interest lawyer Bryan Stevenson, the executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, in Alabama. In his speech, Stevenson reminded us that the answers to ending HIV/AIDS cannot be found in an office. He told us that we need to get up close and personal with PLWHA; solutions can only be found by getting proximate.
