The Criminalization of Black Girls—and How We Can End It

The #AssaultAtSpringValley is just one of the many times police officers in schools have used excessive force on Black girls
From the 17-year-old who was knocked unconscious by a school resource officer in Tampa, to the Baltimore middle-school student who needed 10 stitches after a cop hit her with a baton, to the recent #AssaultAtSpringValley, black girls are under siege in their schools. As cell phone videos increasingly make their way to the Internet and go viral, viewers are being subjected to spirit-crushing clips of police officers inflicting violence on their black bodies, treating young girls as if they are somehow superhuman and sub-human at the same time.

Promising Approaches to Improving Outcomes along the HCV Continuum of Care

Chinazo Cunningham, M.D., M.S., Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a presenter at "Strategies to Improve the HCV Continuum of Care: Best Practices in Testing, Linkage to Care, & Treatment," a special plenary session at the 2015 National Summit on HCV and HIV Diagnosis, Prevention, and Access to Care, convened by the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research
There is a great deal of work being done across the country to improve care for those infected with hepatitis C. This work has been reinvigorated in recent years by new tools that hold great promise, including new HCV treatments that have the potential to cure over 90% of all individuals with HCV infection as well expanded access to healthcare coverage brought about by implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
