HSV-2 Prevalence 3 Times Higher With Versus Without HIV In USA

Prevalence of herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) was 3 times higher in a US cohort of HIV-positive adults than in the general US population. HSV-2 risk was independently associated with female gender, black race, and older age.

New York City's Iris House has launched a groundbreaking HIV-prevention campaign—the first in the nation targeting heterosexual Black men, as well as gay and bisexual men. Rod McCullom reports.

Iris House's Keep It 100 Campaign Uses Smartphone App to Prevent HIV/AIDS


The bus-shelter installations are difficult to miss--colorful, eye-catching advertisements headlined Love Your Life, Keep It 100 that feature young Black male models and scannable "quick response" (QR) codes that instantly direct smartphone users to an HIV-prevention website. Posters and palm cards bearing the same catchy images and phrase carry the message into barbershops, hair salons, schools and elsewhere throughout New York City's Harlem and South Bronx neighborhoods.

Aaron B. Jones-Wade: Pastor, Shepherd, Homosexual


Aaron B. Jones-Wade knew from a very young age that he felt something different toward men. Pious during his youth, he struggled with his attractions, yet eventually came out to his mother -- twice. The first time, she kicked him out. After he tried "playing straight" for a while, he came out a second time; she reluctantly accepted the truth.

Interactive Access to CDC’s HIV and STD Data

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched a new interactive web tool—the NCHHSTP Atlas—that allows users to create maps, charts, and tables using HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease (STD) data collected by CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP).
