How the CHIP Stalemate Hurts Black Children

The U.S. Senate, under Mitch McConnell leadership, hasn't seen fit to fund the Children's Health Insurance Program – among other things.

A program that provides a safety net for more than 8 million children, and more than half of all Black children, has become the latest casualty in the war to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACT).

Wednesday, November 1, is the first day of Open Enrollment for health insurance offered under the Affordable Care Act, also called Obamacare, through the federal health-insurance marketplace HealthCare.gov. But if you shop for health insurance at HealthCare.gov, you are going to have to work much harder to get what is legally available to you.

Despite GOP Efforts To Corral Medicaid Spending, States Expand Benefits

States show expanded Medicaid benefits.

While congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump have been seeking major cuts in federal funding of Medicaid, 26 states this year expanded or enhanced benefits and at least 17 plan to do so next year, according to a recent report.
