Rural HIV Toolkit Available

 African Americans in rural settings face particular challenges

Many social, environmental, and economic factors converge to cause barriers and challenges that complicate HIV prevention and treatment for individuals living in rural areas. Some overarching factors include poverty in many rural areas, limited resources, and structural barriers that pose challenges to accessing services.

State Fires Contractor After Problems Put California HIV Patients At Risk

Consistent medical care and access to medication are critical for keeping HIV and AIDS patients healthy and reducing the spread of the disease

Last week, California's public health department fired the contractor responsible for enrolling patients in a state-run AIDS program, saying its poor performance threatened enrollees' access to life-saving medications.

Indiana's Claims About Its Medicaid Experiment Don't All Check Out

Vice President Mike Pence expanded Medicaid in Indiana when he was governor with some conservative innovations. The state wants a three-year extension of the coverage now

Indiana expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act in 2015, adding conditions designed to appeal to the state's conservative leadership. The federal government approved the experiment, called the Healthy Indiana Plan, or HIP 2.0, which is now up for a three-year renewal.

Black women and Latinas will be seeing more positive, culturally familiar images associated with HIV prevention and treatment in New York City around Harlem and the Queens neighborhood of Jackson Heights, as well as in Central New Jersey, starting on March 10, 2017.
