HHS Awards More Than $295 Million in Affordable Care Act Funds to Increase Access to Primary Care at Health Centers

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced $295 million in Affordable Care Act funding to 1,195 health centers in every U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin to expand primary care services.
Nearly 9 Million People Gained Insurance In Health Marketplace's First Year

The percentage of Americans without health insurance dropped by nearly three percentage points between 2013 and 2014, according the U.S. Census Bureau, from 13.3 to 10.4 percent. Put another way, 8.8 million more people were insured in 2014 than the year before.

Maryland "H& Health and HipHop" Conference

The Maryland Health & Hip Hop Conference takes place October 24, 2015
The Black AIDS Institute and the Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene Prevention and Health Promotion Administration will sponsor H& Health and HipHop, a culturally appropriate men's-only conference about sex, sexuality and HIV. The free event will take place on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Morgan State University's Student Center.

The Obama Administration updates its vision
In 2010 President Barack Obama made history by releasing the first National HIV/AIDS Strategy to provide a blueprint for the U.S. response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Now, five years later, the White House has released an update to the strategy, taking special care to address the unique needs of the Black community.
