Health Departments Nationwide Launch HIV/AIDS Knowledge Attitudes and Beliefs Survey

State and local health departments in partnership with the Black AIDS Institute, the National Alliance for State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD), John Hopkins University, the Latino Commission on AIDS, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have launched a survey to assess the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of people working or volunteering in HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.

Pride in our Progress

Since Pride Month 2013, much has happened that we can be proud of. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Department of Health and Human Services, and the entire nation have made enormous progress regarding the health and welfare of America's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.
PhRMA, Advocates: Specialty Drug Costs For Patients Too High

At a June 11 press event, PhRMA, the drug industry's trade association, and five patient advocacy groups, ranging from the Colon Cancer Alliance to the Immune Deficiency Foundation, pointed to an analysis by the consulting firm Avalere Health — commissioned by PhRMA — as reason for worry regarding these medicines.

June is Pride month for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender community. The LGBT community has a lot to be proud of. We have made tremendous progress toward LGBT equality over the last few years. Marriage equality is the law of the land in 19 states. Being homophobic is officially politically incorrect in much of the country—witness Jonah Hill's heartfelt apology on the Tonight Show. And the lock on the closet door in professional sports has been broken. We've come a long way since that night when drag queens in the Village decided that they had just had enough.
Alabama Testing Tour to Commemorate National HIV Testing Day

Friday, June 27th is National HIV Testing Day (NHTD), a day set aside to raise awareness about HIV testing and encourage Americans to find out their HIV status. In the United States, nearly 1.1 million people are living with HIV and almost one in six don't know they are infected. The epicenter of the disease has shifted to the South.
