Applications to Volunteer at AIDS 2012 Available April 1st

The success of AIDS 2012 will depend heavily on the support of 1,500 to 2,000 volunteers who will fill a range of crucial positions during the conference, including helping coordinate program activities, greeting and registering delegates, staffing various offices and helping in the Global Village.

NIH-funded study defines treatment window for HIV-positive children infected at birth

HIV-positive children older than 1 year who were treated after showing moderate HIV-related symptoms did not experience greater cognitive or behavior problems compared to peers treated when signs of their infection were still mild, according to a study funded by the National Institutes of Health. But both groups of HIV-positive children lagged behind HIV-negative children in these areas, suggesting that the first year of life may present a critical treatment window for minimizing impairments in brain development due to HIV.

Preparing President Obama for the International AIDS Conference, July 2012

In July 2012, the International AIDS Conference returns to the U.S. for the first time in 22 years thanks to the administration's lifting of the travel ban on persons living with HIV. With over 25,000 researchers, advocates, government officials, journalists, non-governmental organization service providers, clinicians, health department staff, people living with HIV and other committed persons waiting anxiously to hear what President Obama (or the administration's representative) says at the meeting, we must urgently consider what preparations the U.S. needs to make for this global stage.
