Recently Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered what I consider to be a very important speech, in which she affirmed the U.S. government's commitment to taking policy steps that will result in an AIDS-free generation worldwide. We run a summary of her comments from AIDS.gov as well as that organization's recaps of the U.S. Conference on AIDS.

Secretary Clinton Delivers Remarks on the Future of the Global HIV/AIDS Epidemic

A note from the AIDS.gov team: Yesterday morning, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton affirmed the U.S. government’s commitment towards an AIDS-free generation. This historic announcement echoes the three goals of the United States’ National HIV/AIDS Strategy: (1) to reduce the number of people who become infected with HIV, (2) to increase access to care and optimize health outcomes for people living with HIV, and (3) to reduce HIV-related health disparities. Together, we are all part of the global movement to drive down the worldwide rate of new HIV infections.

Conference on AIDS – Highlights of Day 1

The 15th annual U.S. Conference on AIDS got underway yesterday in Chicago. Over the next four days we’ll be sharing brief daily highlights from the conference focusing particularly on issues related to the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS). Our first post is longer than usual, but with two plenary sessions and numerous day-long sessions, much transpired on this first day of the conference to share with our readers.
