Who would have thought a strange new disease first identified among five gay men at UCLA medical center in 1981 would become the health issue of our time, killing more than 25 million people so far and threatening to destabilize countries around the globe?

The Beginning of the End of AIDS

On Thursday, December 1, World AIDS Day, President Obama will speak at an event hosted by the ONE Campaign and (RED), joining former presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and others who have been so critical in the worldwide fight against AIDS.

Thurs., Dec. 1 MODA: World AIDS Day Exhibition Full day of activities featuring two AIDS-related exhibitions, educational opportunities and performers. Museum of Design Atlanta, 1315 Peachtree Street 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 pm.

Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS: World AIDS Day Statement


The 2011 theme for World AIDS Day is “Getting to Zero.”  The Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS commends the Obama Administration on its leadership and investment in the domestic and global AIDS epidemics and for maintaining the previous administration’s commitment to prioritize global HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment.
