Who Offers Podcast On Hormonal Contraception In Women With HIV

A study of 3790 HIV-discordant couples (one partner HIV-negative and one positive) in 7 African countries found that hormonal contraceptives—and probably especially injectable hormones—raised the risk of HIV acquisition in women living with an HIV-positive partner.

In couples with an HIV-positive woman and an HIV-negative man, hormonal contraceptives doubled the risk that the woman would transmit the virus to her partner (for details, click on link below).

On 31 January and 1 February, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other groups are convening a consultation on hormonal contraception and risk of HIV acquisition, progression, and transmission.
