Upcoming Philadelphia BTAN Training to Prep Grads for Same-Day NHAS Implementation Dialogue

The Black Treatment Advocate Network's (BTAN) training series in Philadelphia will culminate in an HIV/AIDS Symposium on Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Hub at the Cira Center, located at 2929 Arch Street.

The Symposium is designed to educate participants about the latest scientific advancements in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, help them understand the implications of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) as it is being executed in Philadelphia, allow attendees to interact with local stakeholders around the NHAS's implementation, understand how to advocate for HIV/AIDS in an atmosphere of government cuts, and increase the Black community's confidence and participation in policy advocacy related to HIV/AIDS.

Participants will leave the Symposium prepared to participate in the White House's local NHAS implementation dialogue, intended to discuss ways to create and sustain a community-based response to HIV. That meeting will be held later on that same day, Thursday, October 20, 2011,
from 3:00 – 5:30 pm at the University of Pennsylvania, Jon M. Huntsman Hall, Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium, 3730 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. To register for that event, click here.
