The Anthony Chisom AIDS Foundation (ACAF) will host its inaugural South Dallas AIDS Walk (SDAW) on Saturday, March 19, 2011which will serve to inspire, rally, and galvanize the community of South Dallas to continue to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS and aid those in need. This South Dallas AIDS Walk will offer a variety of groups, nonprofits and businesses an amazing opportunity to make a difference and get your message out to the people that live and work in the Dallas area and abroad that are either infected or impacted by HIV/AIDS.

The Anthony Chisom AIDS Foundation (ACAF) will host its inaugural South Dallas AIDS Walk (SDAW) on Saturday, March 19, 2011. The walk will serve to inspire, rally, and galvanize the community of South Dallas to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS and help those in need. Hosted by Dallas’ own Gary with da Tea of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show and Phil Wilson, CEO and Founder of The Black AIDS Institute leading as ambassador, the inaugural South Dallas AIDS Walk is bound to create movement to further educate on HIV/AIDS awareness, reduce transmissions, and more importantly eliminate stigmas associated with this dreadful, but preventable disease.

The South Dallas AIDS Walk is an initiative of the Anthony Chisom AIDS Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization established in Dallas with the mission of bringing SUPPORT, HEALTH, & MEDICINE to local HIV/AIDS agencies with clientele located in the Southern sector of Dallas. “We guarantee that you want to be a part of this ground-breaking, historic event,” said, Anthony Chisom, Founder of the Anthony Chisom AIDS Foundation. “We are defiant and determined to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS among the minority populations in Dallas and will continue to aid those that are in need.”

Hosted by Dallas’ own, Gary with da Tea of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show and Phil Wilson, CEO and Founder of The Black AIDS Institute leading as ambassador, the inaugural South Dallas AIDS Walk is bound to create movement to further educate on HIV/AIDS awareness, reduce transmissions, and more importantly eliminate stigmas associated with this dreadful, but preventable disease. “This is not just a walk for the cause; it’s a movement to cure”, said Auntjuan Wiley, SDAW Event Chair and Executive Director of the ACAF, who has been working around the clock in effort to gain exposure and excitement about this remarkable opportunity. “Until There’s a Cure” is his motto in making this event successful.

A town hall meeting and workshops will be held on Friday, March 18th at Cornerstone Baptist Church (1819 MLK Blvd, Dallas, TX) Phil Wilson and local leaders will address the community. This event is free and open to the public. Workshops: 12-4pm, Reception: 5-6pm, and Town Hall meeting: 6-8pm.

The South Dallas AIDS Walk will begin at the South Dallas Cultural Center located at 3400 South Fitzhugh Avenue. The route will start on Fitzhugh & Robert B. Cullum Avenue, then down MLK Blvd., past Malcolm X Blvd., to Colonial Avenue, crossing over to Pennsylvania Avenue, then back the South Dallas Cultural Center. Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the walk starts at 10:00 AM. Live entertainment and fun activities courtesy of community partners will headline the closing ceremonies. The registration fee is $25/walker, $30/walker with pet, and Free for teenagers 16 and under.
