Congressman Danny Davis joins US Ambassador Deborah Birx, local clergy and activists in Chicago for a discussion about faith, stigma and ending AIDS.

On October 19, these leaders will join following the AIDS 2016: Chicago Update to talk about the role of faith, clergy and church in addressing the global epidemic and how faith-based organizations can expedite the UNAIDS fast-track city program.

U.S. Representative Danny Davis has represented the 7th District of Illinois for the past 20 years, serving in the Congressional Black Caucus and on many House subcommittees, including Health Care and Entitlements. Ambassador Birx oversees the implementation of the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)—the largest commitment in history made by any nation to combat a single disease—in addition to all U.S. engagement with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Rep. Davis and Ambassador Birx will join Chicago faith leaders to discuss the role faith organizations can play in ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and achieving the UNAIDS fast-track goals and objectives.

The reception will take place from 4-5 p.m. and will be immediately followed by a roundtable and panel discussion from 5-7 p.m., moderated by Jesse Milan, Jr., the Interim President of AIDS United.

Other panelists include Rae Lewis Thornton, Rev. Charles Straight and Dr. Sharron Jenkins.

The reception and roundtable rounds out three consecutive days of events sponsored by the Black AIDS Institute, the Black Treatment Advocates Network (BTAN) Chicago, UNAIDS, PEPFAR, Howard Brown Health, AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Southside Help Center, University Church of Chicago, and other organizations in the city.

The reception and roundtable will be held at the University Church of Chicago from 4-7 p.m.
