In This Issue

In this issue AIDS 2012 governance committee member Marcus Day, director of the Caribbean Drug Abuse Research Institute and founder of the Caribbean Harm Reduction Coalition, shares his thoughts on the International AIDS Conference.

The Road to AIDS 2012 has traveled to Seattle, where participants talked about the successes that that city has experienced in dealing with the epidemic, along with concerns that people of color and disenfranchised communities are still being left behind. Our friends at AIDS.gov report that the CDC is inviting public comment on its draft recommendations that all Baby Boomers get tested for Hep C. They also update us on the activity of several federal agencies collaborating in implementing the National HIV/AIDS Strategy.

The Black AIDS Institute is building a team of community collaborators to help organize post-conference hubs in 13 cities around the country--from Oakland, to New Orleans, to New York. Sign on.

And research shows that testing MSM for STIs every six months and offering risk-reduction counseling reduced the new infection rate in a study of American men.

Yours in the struggle,

Phill
