Naina Khanna directs policy and community organizing for the Positive Women's Network USA, one of the Black AIDS Institute's community partners to the International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012). Also a member of the AIDS 2012 Conference Coordinating Committee (CCC), Naina has a lot to say about what it means to her as a woman of color to serve in such a significant leadership role, why AIDS 2012 is so important and why, from her perspective, Black Americans should be sure to attend.
The Road to AIDS 2012 has now traveled to Denver, where the participants' concerns included coverage for the foreign-born population as well as the impact upon already-strained resources that the National HIV/AIDS Strategy's success could bring. Journalist Tamara Holmes reports.
The Institute has scheduled a free AIDS 2012 pre-conference on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21, to help community members bone up on their command of science and treatment issues, including the cure, vaccine development, hepatitis C, PrEP, microbicides and treatment as prevention.
