Community Mobilization with African American Youth: The Black AIDS Institute’s African American HIV University (AAHU) Class of 2011

The Black AIDS Institute would like to invite you to a webinar on community mobilization with recent graduates of the African American HIV University Community Mobilization College (AAHU CMC).
Every third Thursday of the month the SYPP Center hosts a webinar about HIV Prevention focused on youth. The “Third Thursdays Webinar Series,” are designed for HIV prevention providers serving youth, particularly young gay men and transgender youth of color.
On March 15, 2012, please join the Black AIDS Institute and the SYPP Center showcase youth-related projects, developed by AAHU CMC Graduates from Washington, DC; Newark, New Jersey; and Columbus, OH.
After this webinar, you will be able to:
- Identify the importance of HIV prevention strategies that focus on Black youth, in particular community mobilization
- Describe the Black AIDS Institute's approach to HIV prevention via the African American HIV University (AAHU)
- Highlight youth-specific community mobilization efforts of AAHU Fellows

Housed at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the SYPP Center provides capacity building assistance (CBA) services to communities seeking to prevent HIV/AIDS among youth, with an emphasis on young gay men and transgender youth of color. The SYPP Center offers a framework for communities to create sustainable structural changes and build healthy community coalitions that respond to local needs.
